The Impact of your Support
Yours and her (Harriet) generosity is felt by my family during this challenging time and I know by many more.
This donation made me take a breath of relief, along with just feeling less alone in this time.
Thank you so much for your much needed donation you gave to me at a time when I didn't know what I was going to do.
Without you, I would not be able to keep my appointments. Thank you.
I will use it (donation) to reduce the amount of debt from my treatment. One day I hope to pay it forward.

About Harriet. About Us.
Building a better future through Harriet's compassionate spirit
Born and raised in Butte, Montana, Harriet Anderson was an educator in Montana for over 10 years. She received her degree in Secondary Education from Montana State University in 1969. She began her teaching career at Garfield County High School in Jordan, Montana in the fall of 1969. Shortly after relocating to Drummond, Montana in 1970, she saw a need for pre-school training. In 1979, while raising her own two children, she began teaching pre-school and kindergarten out of the family home in Drummond. She also returned to school and received her elementary degree from the University of Montana. In 1986, Drummond built a new elementary building, and Harriet was hired to teach the morning session of kindergarten. She would continue to teach pre-school from home in the afternoons.
In the fall of 1988, Harriet was detected with breast cancer. After a long battle this terrible disease would take her life on February 26, 1990. Shortly after her passing, a small fund was established in her name for the purpose of providing educational assistance to the students of Drummond High School. It was also established that funds could be used to assist cancer patients with medical costs. The fund was essentially supported through donations made by family and friends.
By 2005, the fund was running on empty. In the summer of 2005, a golf tournament was organized for the purpose of making a financial contribution to the memorial fund. This one event has helped the
foundation to become something very special. After 20 years, the tournament has raised and paid out over $400,000 in medical assistance.
We now have a partnership with both Community Cancer Care and Providence, St. Pats, both in Missoula, MT and we are able to make valuable contributions to patients in critical need of medical financial
assistance. These funds have been paid out to cancer patients from all over the state of Montana, seeking care at both Missoula cancer facilities.

Since its inaugural round in the summer of 2005, the Harriet Anderson Memorial golf tournament, fondly known as the "HAM", has united friends, families, and community members on the fairways, all sharing a singular purpose: to honor Harriet’s legacy by supporting those in need. What began as a single event aimed at contributing to the memorial fund has grown into an extraordinary annual tradition. Over the past 20 years, the HAM has raised and distributed more than $400,000 in medical assistance, transforming countless lives and making the foundation a true force for compassion and hope.
